On Februray 24, 2023, is the anniversary of the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine. The Berlinale expresses its solidarity with the people in Ukraine and all those who are campaigning against this war. At the 2023 Berlinale the documentary “Superpower” by Sean Penn and Aaron Kaufmann was shown as a Berlinale Special Gala. On February 24, 2022, while the directors were filming in Kyiv, Putin’s invasion took the world by storm. As explosions rocked the city, they became inadvertent front-row witnesses to this historic “David and Goliath” struggle. In this clip the filmmakers give insights into their experience of making the film and the audiences share their thoughts and feelings about the documentary.
