Here we go America. A former president and the current Republican nominee for president is facing criminal charges in Manhattan – driven by a wildly liberal prosecutor in one of the bluest cities in America – months before the 2024 presidential election.
A local prosecutor is using federal campaign finance charges to attempt to resurrect state charges that were barred by the statute of limitations.
This zombie case will not withstand legal scrutiny.
Federal prosecutors in New York and Washington have declined to pursue these charges. The FEC – which has jurisdiction over federal elections – has also declined to pursue this matter.
This is outrageous and a dangerous precedent that will haunt the presidency in the future. It is truly weaponization of the law during an election cycle.
Sad and dangerous.
