I am incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we received throughout the course of this campaign. My family, our campaign team and volunteers that put in countless hours, all those who donated their hard-earned money toward the cause, the delegates that served so faithfully and gave us an unprecedented win at the convention, and of course the amazing coalition of national conservatives who have endorsed my candidacy to include Senators Rand Paul, Tommy Tuberville and President Trump. Thank you for taking a chance on a small-town mayor and his goal to take on the establishment.
Unfortunately the outcome of this election didn’t go the way we had hoped. It is concerning to me the outsized influence money plays in politics generally, and what we witnessed here in Utah with this election. We were outspent by well over $10 million, with an additional $2 million spent attacking me directly with all manner of falsehoods and dishonesty. We need to reform this system.
My family and I are uncertain what God has in store for us next, but trust in Him. I pray that our nation will return to its founding principles once again, and that the next Senator from Utah will represent our community and state with honor.
