Governor Doug Burgum
Being governor presents a multitude of opportunities to serve in leadership positions and work with fantastic leaders from other states, organizations and branches of government.
As 2020 chair of the Western Governors’ Association, my central policy initiative, “Reimagining the Rural West,” focused on identifying best practices and policies to support vibrant, enduring rural communities that can attract workforce.
The opportunity to chair the Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission in 2020 allowed us to promote innovation over regulation and highlight how technology can help pave the way for U.S. energy dominance.
And as a member of the National Governors Association’s Executive Committee, I got to work closely with fellow governors on everything from workforce, agriculture and infrastructure to the economy and national security.
Through it all, we vigorously defended states’ rights, working with state agencies, the Legislature, Attorney General’s Office and other stakeholders to push back again overreach by the EPA and other federal agencies exceeding their authority as set by Congress.
We’re grateful to everyone who has worked with our administration at the local, state, federal and tribal levels to advance North Dakota’s interests and protect the freedom, opportunity and prosperity enjoyed by our citizens.
