    Rep. Mike Haridopolos
It was a productive week in Congress, where we took meaningful action on energy security, government funding, and public safety. I remain committed to delivering results for Florida’s Space and Treasure Coasts and to championing the values we hold dear.
I voted YES on the short-term Continuing Resolution to keep the government open and working for the American people. This is a clean, temporary funding measure that gives House Republicans the time needed to finish passing our America First budget, while also allowing President Trump to continue his work deporting criminal illegal aliens and securing the border. We’ve already advanced all 12 appropriations bills through committee and passed three on the House floor. This short-term measure ensures our troops are paid, our veterans receive the services they deserve, and our borders remain protected. It’s now up to the Senate to stop Chuck Schumer from forcing a government shutdown and join us in delivering responsible, common-sense governance.
I voted YES on the resolution honoring the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk and condemning all forms of political violence. Charlie’s assassination was a devastating loss for our country. He was a passionate voice for free speech, faith, and conservative values, and his ability to inspire young people and engage across ideological lines made him truly one-of-a-kind. I’ve been incredibly moved by the grassroots tributes across our community and around the country. This resolution reaffirms our commitment to civility, dialogue, and the principle that violence has no place in American democracy. I’m proud to stand in honor of Charlie’s legacy and to call for a politics grounded in respect, not hate.
I voted YES on three major energy bills this week to strengthen America’s power grid, support energy jobs, and restore our nation’s energy independence. Together with President Trump, House Republicans are delivering on our promise to unleash American energy, lower costs for working families, and put American workers first. I proudly supported the GRID Power Act, which will cut red tape and expedite new energy projects to stabilize the grid. I also voted for the National Coal Council Reestablishment Act to preserve reliable, baseload power and protect jobs in communities that depend on coal. And I supported the Promoting Cross-Border Energy Infrastructure Act, which streamlines the permitting process for critical energy infrastructure.
I voted YES on four bills this week to support President Trump’s law-and-order agenda and crack down on rising crime in Washington, D.C. The justice system in our nation’s capital is broken, and House Republicans are stepping in to fix it. I proudly voted for a package of legislation to block dangerous soft-on-crime policies, strengthen penalties for violent offenders, and restore accountability to D.C.’s courts and police. These bills ensure that violent juveniles can be appropriately charged as adults, restore police authority to pursue suspects, and return the power of judicial nominations to the President and Senate. Law-abiding citizens deserve to feel safe on their streets, and not have violent, repeat offenders terrorizing their communities.
This week, I participated in a hearing of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Digital Assets, where we focused on the alarming rise of AI-driven financial scams. I highlighted the efforts of our local sheriffs in raising awareness and underscored the importance of prevention and coordination between federal, state, and local law enforcement. The criminals behind these scams are often overseas, so our best weapon is vigilance and public awareness. I’ll keep fighting to protect families on the Space and Treasure Coasts from these evolving threats
This week, I also participated in a Science, Space, and Technology Committee hearing on the future of fusion power, a promising technology that could reshape our energy landscape. As Chairman of the Space Subcommittee, I raised the potential of helium-3 as a next-generation fusion fuel and emphasized the need for innovation that strengthens both our grid and our global competitiveness. The Chinese Communist Party is pouring resources into this field, and America must lead.
And finally, this week I hosted a bipartisan group of freshman Members of Congress for an in-depth discussion with the CEO of Anthropic, one of the leading artificial intelligence companies in the world. Our conversation focused on how Congress can strike the right balance between encouraging innovation and protecting the public interest. We explored how America can lead the AI race, particularly against the Chinese Communist Party, while also ensuring AI systems are aligned with our values, safeguard national security, and promote economic opportunity.
This was a week of action, and through it all, I remain focused on delivering results for our community. If you ever need assistance with a federal agency or have thoughts to share about my work in Congress, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My office is here to serve you. Thank you for the honor of serving as your Congressman.
