On the @HHSGov refugee resettlement amendment vote on Friday night: This was a Trump budget request to prevent kids from being trafficked. I sided with the White House.

1. The @WhiteHouse negotiated and ultimately approved the funding deal. I voted YES. 11 of 12 appropriations bills have passed the Senate.
2. Over 80% of the funding in question ($4B+) = the amount specifically requested BY the Trump Administration for the purpose of protecting migrant children from trafficking. Rand Paul filed an amendment vote to strike this funding.
3. The Trump admin has made incredible progress solving the border crisis and human trafficking disaster fueled under Biden. Additional vetting and housing require funding.
4. I voted to honor the funding the Trump administration’s budget request to prevent the trafficking of minors.
5. Importantly: in Oct 2025, @POTUS @StateDept proposed to LIMIT the number of refugee admissions to 7,500 in FY26. I support that effort 100%. By contrast, under Biden in FY24 alone, a total of 100,034 refugees were resettled in the U.S.
