Il Sundance Film Festival riunisce i narratori più originali e il pubblico più avventuroso per il suo programma annuale di film drammatici, documentari e cortometraggi; spettacoli, mostre e esperienze di realtà virtuale; narrazione seriale; conversazioni e tavole rotonde di filmmaker; eventi musicali. Dal 1985, centinaia di film lanciati al Festival hanno ottenuto successo mondiale.
Il Sundance Institute è stato fondato da Robert Redford nel 1981 nelle montagne di Sundance, nello Utah.
