250 years ago today, the Continental Congress approved a resolution declaring America’s independence from Great Britain.
The resolution read: “That these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is, and ought to be, totally dissolved.”
From that day on, a nation like no other took shape. One that recognized and encouraged the God-given freedoms of every human being—the freedom to worship, the freedom to express and govern themselves.
This bold declaration created a thriving nation, and an international emblem of liberty!
