It’s been a week we’ll never forget. The worst of mother nature. The very best of Iowans. Our hearts and prayers remain with Greenfield, the families who lost loved ones, and every community impacted by the storms. Even in the devastation, signs of hope are emerging and the strength of Iowans is inspiring. Yesterday, I stood with four generations of a farm family on the site that had been their home for nearly a century. It’s gone now. Completely leveled by the storm. No structure was spared. But for the grace of God, the young family of four huddled in the basement survived. The patriarch was born in the home that no longer stood there. He said to me: “This chapter of our story is done now, so we close it and start a new book.” And that is the strength of Iowans. God bless our great state.
